The only other install I found that do more things automatically is the install via Homebrew cask. Whichever brew command is called is where the packages will be installed. Among them is that they told me that it need Java 8 while on my PC Java 11 is installed. to have a system set of libs in the default prefix and tweaked formulae for development in ~/homebrew. Apache NetBeans 12.0 runs on the JDK LTS releases 8 and 11, as well as on JDK 14, i.e., the current JDK release at the time of this NetBeans release. It looks like only the current version too: brew cask info java.
